Subject starters are lists of hand-picked web resources by topic, usually organized in some meaningful way that makes them easy to browse. Port Moody Library's web links do this for sites of interest to our patrons.

This is an excellent starting point for information on a wide variety of topics.

Toronto Public Library - Subject Guide to the Internet
This site links to thousands of resources, and it is particularly strong on Canadian sources.  An added bonus is the research guides to help you search for information.

Academic Info
Provides access to college and research level Internet resources.

World Wide Web Virtual Library
This is a large and fairly comprehensivelist of "starting point web sites. 

Resource Discovery Network
A collaborative project from several institutions in the UK, the RDN consists of several subject based hub sites developed and maintained by specialists in the field.

Virtual Reference Desk
British Columbian librarians have compiled an excellent directory of trustworthy Web sites. Organized by the same tools your library uses: Dewey Decimal and LC Subject headings, you'll be amazed at how familiar this directory seems.

Quick Fact Lookup
These are portal sites that list those handy quick-lookup tools such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps etc.
